Health, safety and environment principles Print

The Bracco Group's commitment to sustainable development has broadened over the years in parallel with the evolution of the company's environment policy and aims; developments in this field have required a significant outlay of resources and organizational effort, but they have allowed Bracco to introduce increasingly environment-friendly and innovative industrial processes and management procedures geared to environmental and social sustainability.

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) principles set out below apply throughout the Bracco Group. They define working practices and methods and are designed to protect the individual, the environment and the company installations against damage and to continuously improve Bracco's environmental performance.

  1. Safety in all workplaces, together with protection of the worker and the environment in and outside the site are priorities for Bracco management.
  2. The Group HSE division may also issue supplementary regulations that are more restrictive than current laws, to be applied throughout the Group.
  3. Health, safety and environment issues are handled with the same level of professional rigor and scientific expertise applied to research and development questions.
  4. An activity may be performed only if safety standards are guaranteed for the individual.
  5. The decision whether an activity may be performed or not is taken after a risk analysis considering impact on people, technical installations, processes, substances, the site and the environment.
  6. In addition to preventive measures, emergency measures are always planned to limit and control the consequences of any accidents or emergencies.
  7. Every Group employee, at every level, is responsible for applying these principles in relation to their function, authority, knowledge and training.
  8. Employees receive safety and environment information and training for their jobs.
  9. Clients are given assistance on correct use of products. A channel for communication with the public is always open and information is provided on protection of the environment and product safety. Sharing know-how and experience with the authorities and associations, government agencies and the scientific community is another priority.
  10. The Group HSE division is responsible for enforcing these principles.
