Solidarity and cooperation are a way toward the civil progress of society, says Bracco. One of the priorities in Bracco's broad range of support programs are women, the heart of the family. The company's initiatives comprise special professional career path opportunities extending through to management levels, as well as a full range of personal services to help women in the difficult task of balancing their personal and professional lives: preventive medicine, social welfare, children's summer camps, maternity and retirement facilities. These initiatives stem from Bracco's global vision in which the specific diversity of the female identity is a value to be upheld. All women have access to medical tests for prevention of the more frequent female diseases, as well as pre- and post-natal support. Other initiatives include emergency assistance for women looking after relatives and facilities for children. This commitment to equitable valorization of the female workforce has produced significant results in Bracco, where women account for more than 30% of personnel and 25% of managers. Bracco also understands the importance of young people for the future, and assists their growth by helping them realize their potential through support for education, culture and entry on to the jobs market. Another priority area is sport and recreation, where Bracco partners numerous sports associations to promote awareness of the importance of psychophysical well-being. Another example of Bracco's all-round focus on corporate social responsibility is the support given to social cooperatives. Rather than donations, this takes the form of contracts awarded at market conditions for the supply of services, notably environmental services such as recycling of paper or used printer cartridges, or production of publications dealing with social issues. Elsewhere, Bracco's many partnerships with schools, universities and local institutes represent important models for cooperation between the public and private sectors, enabling social operators with different areas of competence and missions to contribute their specific skills and work together in the interest of civil progress. Bracco is also an active partner of the Sodalitas association for entrepreneurial development in social issues. Formed by the Assolombarda union of Lombardy manufacturers and service companies, the association provides non-profit organizations with access to the managerial expertise of the entrepreneurial world and simultaneously enhances the effectiveness of voluntary work. Diana Bracco is currently chairman of Sodalitas and also held the post from the association’s formation in 1995 until 2001. |
