The Italian Ambassador to Berlin visits Singen Bracco Imaging Pharmaceutical Sterile Operations

Singen, Germany , 12/16/2013

On the 8th of November, the Italian Ambassador to Berlin, Elio Menzione, accompanied by the Consul to Freiburg, Filippo Romano and by Ignazio Di Pace from Bracco Corporate, visited the Bracco Group’s largest sterile pharmaceuticals manufacturing plant, BIPSO, at the Singen Industrial Park in Germany.

BIPSO, (Bracco Imaging Pharmaceutical Sterile Operations), acquired by Nycomed in 2011, manufactures 40% of the contrast agents that Bracco exports to over 90 countries worldwide.
The BIPSO facility is 26,000 sq. meters and the sterile operations unit utilizes about 4,350 sq. meters of this space, as does the packaging department, while offices occupy 500 sq. meters. The plant also produces sterile products for other pharmaceutical companies.

The Ambassador was welcomed by Fulvio Renoldi Bracco (Head of the Global Business Unit Imaging), Marco Lupi (General Manager BIPSO), Simone Dahlmanns (General Manager BIPSO), Thilo Schneider (General Manager Bracco Imaging Deutschland) and Ignazio Di Pace, who presented the production site and took the visitors on a tour of the facilities. For his part, the Ambassador expressed great interest in launching collaborative efforts between the Embassy and the Bracco Group.

Bracco has operated in Germany since the early 1980’s. In 2012 alone, as many as 4 million German patients have undergone diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing Bracco contrast agents: 11,000 per day.
