In Shanghai Bracco Sine celebrated 10 successful years

11/10/2011

With an international scientific symposium on the future of Diagnostic Imaging, a cultural event on the Italian lifestyle and a two-year program providing 10 scholarships for young Chinese radiologists, the Bracco Group has celebrated the tenth anniversary of Bracco Sine in Shanghai.

“Bracco Sine is a highly successful joint-venture of which we and our Chinese partners are immensely proud,” said Diana Bracco. “We arrived in this great country many years ago, at a time when few Italians were coming here, and we believed and invested in China, and feel honoured to contribute to its growth.

Just as we are honoured to provide diagnostic procedures and increasingly effective solutions for Chinese patients and physicians.”

Owned 70% by the Bracco Group, Bracco Sine has grown very rapidly, expanding from 20 employees in 2001 to more than 230 today, quadrupling the production capacity of its Pudong facility and winning an important share on the Chinese imaging agents market, which is growing at an annual rate of 20%.

“These extraordinary results have been achieved thanks to the quality of our products, and also thanks to Bracco’s success in building solid, lasting ties with China’s scientific, academic and medical communities,” explains Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, the CEO of the Bracco Imaging company, whose continuous investment in R&D has made it a world leader in Diagnostic Imaging and one of the few Italian companies with large market shares in many technologically advanced countries, including the USA, China, Japan and Germany.

“In the last four years, for example, we have organised 40 Diagnostic Imaging training seminars in a number of Chinese cities, and for the tenth anniversary of Bracco Sine, we officially announced that the Bracco Foundation would offer 10 scholarships for young Chinese doctors aged between 25 and 34, as a contribution to cutting-edge and scientifically advanced training of the Chinese radiologists of the future,” adds Fulvio Renoldi Bracco.

The program will be organised with the assistance of the Chinese Radiology Society (CRS), which will help the Bracco Foundation select the most deserving students and choose their areas of specialisation during the time in Italy.

The program, part of the Bracco Foundation’s Young People Project, will provide a semester of specialisation in Radiology at leading Italian hospitals and universities, and assign each scholarship student to a mentor to provide scientific guidance and technical advice during their 6-month stay in Italy.
