Italy and Japan in dialogue: art, science and the challenges of longevity
Milan through the eyes
of Leonardo da Vinci
On the occasion of Fuori Expo, the Italian Embassy in Tokyo is hosting the photographic exhibition “Milan through the eyes of Leonardo da Vinci”, promoted by the Bracco Foundation, until 13 October.
The exhibition presents a selection of photographs dedicated to some of Milan's most significant historical buildings, immortalised by five young photographers who graduated from the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. A visual tribute to the urban landscape observed by the great Renaissance master, who continues to inspire the union between art and science.
Leonardo da Vinci still embodies an unsurpassed model of creativity and scientific rigour, the basis of the Made in Italy brand loved throughout the world. He represents an ideal bridge between cultures, capable of stimulating discussion on how knowledge and beauty can contribute to improving quality of life, with particular attention to issues related to longevity.
These values were at the heart of the event Dialogue between Japan and Italy on Science, Culture and Longevity, held on 16 September at the prestigious Embassy headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Gianluigi Benedetti, Italian Ambassador to Japan, Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, Vice-President and CEO of Bracco Imaging, Kozo Akino, Member of the House of Councillors (Fukuoka Prefecture), Masahiro Jinzaki, Professor at Keio University (Department of Radiology, School of Medicine), Tetsuaki Sakamoto, President of Bracco Japan, Gaela Bernini, Secretary General of the Bracco Foundation and Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Bracco.
"The event was important occasion for the promotion of dialogue and cooperation around some of the major health challenges of our time, such as the ageing of the population and the consequent need for more sustainable health systems" said Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, Vicechair and CEO of Bracco Imaging.
At the end of the meeting, Diana Bracco, President and CEO of the Bracco Group and President of the Bracco Foundation, spoke via video, emphasising how "Leonardo's intuitive power manifests a perfect union between art and science. Behind the successes of many Italian companies are the stories of men and women who have dedicated their lives to the search for new solutions, new challenges and new opportunities."
