Where the magic happens
Our innovation facilities
Our main research centers in Europe (Ivrea and Geneva) are active in the initial discovery and development phases of new molecules and in new sustainable processes.
Ivrea R&D Center
Established in 2007 in Ivrea nearby Turin, the Bracco Research Center (CRB) is specialized in the research, development, and innovation of contrast agents for X-Ray/CT and MR imaging.
It includes laboratories equipped with the most advanced technologies, focused on chemistry, analytics, packaging, biology, and imaging. Moreover, it includes a Test Facility equipped to perform toxicology, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics studies. The same site hosts a pilot plant and pharmaceutical production lines. The site currently employs around 80 highly specialized researchers.
R&D laboratories at CRB are focused on all areas of preclinical research, from the initial discovery phase of new molecules to the development of industrial manufacturing processes. As an additional path of innovation, new R&D activities have started in artificial intelligence to develop machine learning-based tools to go beyond traditional contrast-enhanced imaging and increase diagnostic information.
Geneva R&D Center
Created in 1989 in Geneva, Bracco Research Geneva (BRG) is specialized in the research and development of innovative gas microbubbles formulation for imaging and therapeutic application, as well as software solutions for quantitative analysis of ultrasound contrast agent images.
BRG currently employs approximately 50 highly specialized scientists with wide expertise in chemistry, biology, physics, and software technology. Beyond regular support to the technical operation team, researchers at BRG work to extend the field of use of ultrasound contrast media.
Entering the area of machine learning towards artificial intelligence is our next stage of development to possibly further enhance the value of the software and overall, of the contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging modality.
