Re.Water Project – Bracco Sustainability

Every year, millions of people undergo diagnostic imaging procedures using contrast agents.

But what happens to these substances afterward?

The Re.Water Project addresses this environmental challenge through an innovative solution developed in collaboration with Dutch company Zero. By using dedicated toilets equipped with special filters, contrast agents can be captured directly from patients’ urine — reducing environmental impact and enabling the recovery of valuable raw materials. A pilot program will launch in 2025 across selected hospitals in Europe, aiming to set a new sustainability standard in diagnostic imaging.

Because improving people’s health also means protecting the planet’s health.
