The site
Founded in 2011 through a transfer of operations, BIPSO (Bracco Imaging Pharmaceutical Sterile Operations) GmbH operates as a Sterile Manufacturing Excellence within the Bracco Group. The Singen site covers the entire production chain for sterile contrast media – from raw material receipt and manufacturing to quality control, packaging and final distribution, supplying more than 100 countries worldwide.
With around 400 employees, BIPSO continues to expand and modernize its facilities to meet the growing global demand for Bracco’s contrast media portfolio.
Our capabilities
The heart of BIPSO is Production, divided into Sterile Production, responsible for manufacturing and bottling contrast media under strictly controlled microbiological conditions, and Packaging Sterile, where products are visually inspected, packed and prepared for final distribution.
The Supply Chain department manages procurement, production planning, warehousing, and logistics. It ensures the timely availability of materials and the efficient flow of goods, supporting reliable production and the on-time delivery of products.
The Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) department supports production through process validation, technical change management, regulatory affairs and manufacturing documentation. By ensuring GMP compliance and driving continuous improvement, the team helps maintain safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.
The Quality department safeguards product quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Through quality assurance, quality control, microbiological testing, GMP oversight, employee training, and product release activities, the team ensures that BIPSO’s products consistently meet the highest quality standards.
The Technical department ensures the safe and reliable operation of all production, utility, and infrastructure systems at the site. Through innovative maintenance strategies, digital technologies, and technical projects, we continuously enhance our facilities and support sustainable operational excellence.
The Performance Management team supports BIPSO’s continuous improvement and digitalization journey. Through process optimization, data-driven initiatives, and the implementation of digital technologies, the department helps increase efficiency, quality, and operational performance across the site
The HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) department manages health protection, occupational safety, and environmental management, ensuring a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace.
Supported by Administrative departments, such as Human Resources, Finance or Corporate Services, all functions work together to deliver high-quality contrast media through innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence - supporting healthcare around the world.

BIPSO products
Contrast media are essential tools in modern diagnostic imaging, enhancing the visibility of internal structures across a range of imaging modalities. At BIPSO, iodine-based contrast agents such as Imeron® and Solutrast® / Isovue® (US-market) for CT and X-ray imaging, as well as the MRI contrast agents like MultiHance®, ProHance® and Vueway® (gadopiclenol), are manufactured.
Sterile production
Terminally sterilizable contrast media are manufactured under strictly controlled microbiological conditions, ensuring clean room integrity throughout the entire production process.
Packaging
Every unit undergoes visual inspection before packaging. Highly automated facilities and trained operators ensure that all products meet faultless quality standards before global dispatch.
GMP Compliance
All our production processes comply with internationally recognized cGMP standards for the manufacture of medicinal products. We are in compliance with GMP laws of the EU, Germany, the US FDA and follow all relevant EU and International (e.g. ICH) guidelines.

History
For more than four decades, the Singen site has been producing contrast media for Bracco. What began as a third-party manufacturing arrangement evolved into one of the most advanced sterile production facilities in the industry, culminating in the foundation of BIPSO GmbH in 2011.
